ast fortnight Hewlett-Packard India Sales (HPIS) launched two models of digital cameras, M307 and M407, and a digital entertainment notebook, Compaq Presario V2036AP Portable, in the market. The launches are part of the global information technology major�s new strategy for growth, which entails positioning HP "as the most preferred consumer brand for all electronics and computation products".
The new Indian consumer is ready for a deluge in consumer electronics, says HP. "A substantial increase in disposable income has led the Indian consumer to aspire for more of lifestyle products," says V Krishnan, general manager, consumer sales, imaging and printing group, HPIS. "There is a tendency to cast away older models at a rate quicker than ever before, especially with so many buy-back schemes going around. More people are making spontaneous emotional decisions."
