Leading the charge Keepers of the faith

f all the executive movements that were plotted in 2004, Guha�s appointment as chief executive officer (CEO) of ZEE Telefilms was particularly momentous on two counts. One, it marked the conclusion of Guha�s 29-year-old relationship with Bennett, Coleman & Company, where he was president at the time of his resignation. Two, it saw the coming together of a man whose management and media-brand marketing skills are legendary, and a media entity whose potential has been continually undervalued in the industry. As media watchers are wont to say, the partnership offers Guha the opportunity to put his considerable capabilities and experience to test in the television space, while strengthening ZEE�s renewed bid at the C&S; sweepstakes.

Guha�s credentials are immaculate, to say the least. Having led the sales and marketing functions at the Times Group, Guha has not only been instrumental in the successful re-engineering of The Times of India, Filmfare and Femina brands, he also shares the credit for the creation of popular and profitable properties such as the annual Filmfare Awards and Femina Miss India contest. And for laying the bedrock for the Page 3 culture in India, of course.
