UK-based HIT Entertainment Plc, producer of Bob The Builder, is set to launch an ambitious licensing programme in the country in collaboration with Licensing Plus (India). HIT enters India after covering more than 200 countries and launching over 2,000 products in its key markets worldwide. It is one of the largest owners of pre-school television shows in the world with over 1,000 hours of programming.
Bob the Builder is being aired on Cartoon Network since 2003 (it was shifted to POGO in the early days of its launch but within weeks Cartoon Network brought the tiny wonder back to its pre-schoolers slot) and according to the channel, as many as 11 episodes of Bob the Builder are among the top 100 shows of 2004 on Cartoon Network. Given its growing popularity, HIT Entertainment thinks the market is ready for Bob merchandise. (For the uninitiated, Bob The Builder follows the adventures of Bob and his gang of friends and machines - Scoop (a scooper), Muck (a dump truck), Lofty (a crane), Dizzy (a cement mixer), and Roley (a steam roller) - as they work together to solve problems.
