he Indian auto industry bosses are a busy lot these days. Things have become so much tougher since the industry opened up. Competition can topple you with the hippest suit, the coolest hair-do (that is, if you haven�t turned bald poring over competitive gamesmanship), and the best thank-you speech you could bet your chassis on. It�s not easy to keep pace, what with so many award functions lined up at this time of the year.
At last count, there were at least three major auto awards - the BS Motoring, the CNBC-Autocar Auto Awards and the Overdrive Awards - and the battle is not just for the Best Car/Bike of the year. It�s also about the Best Variant, Best Value for Money, Best Styling - even a Viewer�s Choice Award (reminds us of Miss Beautiful Smile/Hair, Miss Congeniality, Miss Fair Skin, Miss Sexy Legs ... oops did we get carried away?). Given the technicalities involved and the endlessly gruelling parameters, judging auto awards cannot be very easy either.
