While combined gross sales and rental revenue from all home videos is estimated to have grown from about $22.5 billion last year to $25 billion this year, the fastest growth was realised in the TV-to-DVD sector, growing from $882 million to $1.4 billion in 2004, according to a recent survey. While Paramount Home Entertainment was the first to test the waters with single-disc releases of Star Trek, it was 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment that pioneered the TV-to-DVD boxed set concept.
