Hoping for a smoother ride

onsider this. The tubeless tyre has been around since the 1950s. Our neighbours in the SAARC countries adopted the technology about 15 years ago. India first encountered it only when foreign cars started zipping down our bumpy roads in the late nineties.

Does it come as a surprise then that tubeless tyres comprise a minuscule 6.3 per cent of the total tyre sales in India? To put down the exact figures, the total tyre market in India is valued at Rs 12,000 crore, of which radials contribute Rs 5,000 crore. And tubeless tyres make up 15 per cent of the radial tyre sales.... more
