Idol fixation?

ven before the last posters of Indian Idol could come down, Sony Entertainment Television (SET), which made Mumbai boy Abhijeet Sawant a national hero, has announced another music reality show, Fame Gurukul. The only difference is that this time it�s a daily reality drama. The hunt is for a pair of singers as opposed to one singing sensation as in Indian Idol.

Fame Gurukul is based on the successful Spanish reality show, Operacion Trifunfo, which was produced by Endemol Group�s Gestmusic for Television Espanol. Operacion Trifunfo has since been adapted by 11 countries including the US and the UK. Interestingly, in most countries, Fame Academy has been used by channels that rival the one that owns the Pop Idol title. Take the UK, for instance, where Fame Academy was BBC�s answer to ITV�s Pop Idol and Pop Stars.... more
