onsidering that India has about 25 million internet users, and as much as 30 per cent of the the internet users are online for more than 20 hours a week, the medium is all but under-utilised by marketers. Least of all by movie makers. A recent research conducted by Internet and Online Association (IOA) in collaboration with Cross-Tab Marketing Services revealed some interesting facts. (The sample size for the research was 6,200 and the survey was conducted online.)
It showed that 55 per cent of the online audience in India watches more than one movie per month at the theatre while 90 per cent access the internet for movie information and reviews. The study says that 72 per cent of users book their tickets in advance. Also the average spends on movie watching have increased. About 34 per cent of internet users spend more than Rs 300 on a movie visit.... more
