The language of market expansion

ollywood movies contribute more than 10 per cent of the total revenues generated by films in India and the take-home is growing at 7 per cent annually. The fact that Hollywood flicks are a big draw in India has been amply proved by the popularity of English movies on the small screen. Now Hindi-dubbed Hollywood movies have joined the ranks of TVR grossers on the telly.

STAR India�s Hindi movie channel, STAR Gold, which plays classic Bollywood fare, besides recent releases, major hits and events, has found new viewers with a potpourri of Hollywood films dubbed in Hindi. As if that�s not enough, we had the recent thanksgiving party hosted by a diehard like HBO, which threw its arms open to the desi brigade with The Mummy Trilogy in Hindi. ... more
