Getting away from the pack

"Life is one incredible journey", Outlook Traveller, had stated when it was launched in 2000. And so it has been, even for the magazine, part of the Outlook group of publications, which is owned by Rajan Raheja�s Hathway Investments. Three years and a lot of research later it came up with the idea of a spin-off in the form of Outlook Traveller Getaways, with 52 Weekend Breaks from Delhi being the first in the series. Last month, the media group unveiled Heritage Holidays, North & Central India, the fifth travel guide in the Getaway series in the space of a year, marking a determined bid to grab a slot no mainline publication has seriously ventured into.

"The increase in leisure travel was there for all of us to see," says Maheshwer Peri, publisher, The Outlook Group. "The busy executive, after burning the midnight oil, prefers to take a break. We saw it coming through our website and also the magazine." Pointing at the key difference between the magazine and the guide series, he says, "(Outlook) Traveller inspires people to travel. In contrast, the guides give actionable information so that travellers have all the information at their fingertips right from planning to execution." ... more
